Aircraft - Engine Swap

There are 4 engine fields on the Aircraft record, Eng 1, Eng 2, Eng 3, Eng 4

The installed engines should be set by the Installed Engine fields. These engines are the active engines on the aircraft and will be taken into consideration when creating Flight Leg Tech Logs (screenshot 1)

If an Engine has to go into maintenance, it can be removed from the Installed Engines, and its replacement can be added

  • Add the new engine in available engine fields, such as Eng 3 or 4

  • Ensure the serial number is populated, its position, and relevant hours and cycles

  • Under Installed Engines, remove the engine undergoing maintenance and add the temporary engine

To update Engine Hours/Cycles of the aircraft undergoing maintenance work, an Engine tech log can be created from the Tech Log tab

When the engine returns, remove the temporary engine from the Installed Engines, and re-add the original

As engine values are tied to tech logs, the information for the engine that was used temporarily must remain on the Aircraft record even when the engine is no longer selected as an Installed Engine
